Full featured bluetooth manager. Many features are still in development.

bluez-gnome

bluez-gnome is a suite of tools for using BlueZ with GNOME. It contains the following set of components

bluetooth-applet

This is a GNOME status bar applet which is automatically started when a user logs in. It provides the following features:

  • Default passkey agent so the user is shown with a nice input dialog when pairing is requested
  • An authorization agent so the user is shown with a dialog when a non-trusted device tries to access some Bluetooth service.
  • Notifications of events which might be of interest to the user:
    • Adapter added/removed
    • Bonding (pairing) created/removed
    • Remote device connected/disconnected
  • A drop down menu providing access to the folowing features:
    • Access to the bluetooth-properties application (see below)
    • To quickly start browsing the contents of a remote device (using OBEX File Transfer)

bluetooth-properties

This application allows the user to change different Bluetooth related preferences:

  • Discoverability modes & discoverable timeout
  • Device type (laptop/desktop)
  • Device name
  • Bonded (paired) devices
  • Enable/disable services (input,network,audio,etc.)

bluetooth-wizard

This application allows the user to setup and configure a new remote Bluetooth device.

bluetooth-proximity

This application monitors signals of newly found devices and their signal strengths.

bluetooth-analyzer

A graphical application for analyzing Bluetooth HCI data (e.g. such that can be recorded by hcidump).

bluetooth-sendto

A simple OBEX Object Push client

KDE fully integrated Bluetooth support.

The KDE Bluetooth Framework is a set of tools built on top of Linux' Bluetooth stack BlueZ. Our goal is to provide easy access to the most common Bluetooth profiles and to make data exchange with Bluetooth enabled phones and PDAs as straightforward as possible.
